The show in Belleville ( Ontario ) has been moved...here is the new info :

06.25.08 @ Time to Laugh ; Kingston, ON

April 17, 2008

Montreal now has its own Outdoor Metal Festival !! In good European tradition,

this huge event spread on 2 days called the "Heavy MTL Fest" should be an

annual happening from now on. We're more than glad to be part of this musical

orgy amongst such a distinguished line-up : IRON MAIDEN, Mastodon, Hammerfall, Symphony X, Three Inches of Blood, Type O Negative, Motley Crue, Shadows Fall,

Overkill, Hatebreed, Anthrax, Priestess, Three Days Grace, Drowning Pool,

Dethklok and Lauren Harris! On June 21 & 22 at the Parc Jean-Drapeau.
Bill Murray won't be present but we wish him the best in his cannibalistic projects.
Go for a stroll on their website for more information. Here's the official press release :
http://www.heavymtl.com/en/news

Joy! The schedule for the 10th annual New England Metal & Hardcore Festival has

been announced...here's the link : http://www.metalandhardcorefestival.com/schedule.html
We're playing Sunday on the main stage. Don't miss us or you'll get cancer...

...and don't forget our next US festival as headliners a few days later on June 28 in St.Paul !
Flight of the Valkyries shall be a fine event consecrated to metal bands with female singers in their midst.

Finally, here's the link for our new official online store again...don't push anybody down the stairs...be kind...

We're extremely sorry to have missed the Chicago show yesterday night...the

blame goes to our vehicle. Our van broke down in the middle of nowhere and

after a couple of hours it was impossible for us to arrive on time. Our apologies

to all of those who came to see us. We'll be back in September though !!

The Online store is now open again on another website! More merch shall garnish

it in the near future...here's the link :

March 19, 2008

Hi guys ! Some news from the road...
We're currently hitting the second week of the Nile Tour and we're having a blast

of a time with all the bands involved! The mood is really high, turnouts are

excellent, the crowds are awesome and we get to hear great music each night!

Now if we could only see a sad clown riding a giant two headed cat everything

would be perfect!

Here are some details about shows that were added/modified :

Ashow in Muncy ( PA ) has been added as well as two new Canadian dates in June.

03.31.08 @ Ritz Theatre ; Muncy, PA
06.25.08 @ Time to Laugh ; Kingston, ON
06.26.08 @ Absinthe ; Hamilton, ON

On another subject, Landryx is now endorsed by Sabian!

He'll hit those metallic circles with unending glee!

As soon as we get back from this tour we'll sit down all together to work more

intensely on the new album. We already have a lot of material but it all has to pass

through the unexpect mindfucking machine of course...

The Online Store will soon re-open in a few days as we changed the whole system.

February 21, 2008

Aaaaaahhhh....finally back in Montreal for a couple of days before leaving again

for the Nile tour. Speaking of, the following date has been updated...it previously

was at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana :

03.21.08 @ The Boardwalk ; Orangevale (Sacramento), CA

Meanwhile, we'll ask again for your cooperation on a certain voting matter...but

voting is SOOOOOOO fun when it doesn't involve politicians and kung fu isn't it ?

A little click and the deed is done in-between two breaths of oxygen.
Like we previously announced in a newsletter we've recently been nominated

at the MIMI 2008 in a couple of categories and you can help us influence the jury

in a positive way without bribing or maiming anyone ! Just vote by clicking on that wonderful link below and click again on the notification CLICK HERE TO VOTE to

start this fine procedure... !
You have until 17h00, on February 26 to accomplish this feat and support your favourite freaks.

VOTE FOR UNEXPECT

Another of our songs has been broadcasted on the TV show Fearless Music on FOX 5 last Saturday ! For those who want to watch and hear us playing a live shortened version of SUMMONING SCENES in their NYC studio, just click HERE

The Quebec TV show LES FRANCS TIREURS recently interviewed us and filmed our last show in Montreal for a special edition talking about the Metal scene! The show will first be broadcasted at 20h00 on February 27 on the Tele Quebec channel . For most of you who can't listen to it, I guess that a youtube version of the show will be appearing soon after...and maybe someone will be patient enough to put on some subtitles for those not initiated to the French language.

February 12, 2008
After one month of intense touring, the North American Tour with Trail of Tears

is approaching its end. It is with sadness that we parted ways with our Norwegian

friends with whom we've had a lot of great moments in the past few weeks!

May the holy Jack Daniels himself shine on you my friends...
Big cheers goes to Echoes of Eternity too who unfortunately had to leave earlier

on the tour for causes of sickness. Thanks to everyone who showed up all across

the US, Mexico and Canada !
There's still a few shows left which we'll be headlining, so hide your dogs and

stare at the sun for too long with devilish glee...we're coming for you...

Yet another tour has been added to our list of activities for 2008!
September shall see us touring with Japanese experimental metal act SIGH and

the band ZIMMERS HOLE, featuring members of

Strapping Young Lad & Fear Factory. Fun fun fun.

We'll also be headlining a "female fronted metal" festival called Flight of the Valkyrie

in St.Paul on June 28 ! I don'treally know what's a "female" but it sounds quite

interesting. Here's the link to their website...
www.femalemetalfest.com

Seems like nominations are on our side those days around...we've just been

nominated at the MIMI 2008 in those categories :

International – Artist with the greatest international potential
Broadcast – Artist who will benefit most from a media campaign
National – Artist who will benefit most from Quebec or Canadian tour support
Discovery – Best new artist of the year
Studio Ready – Artist that will benefit most from additional studio support
Unsigned – Artist that produced the best demo of the year
Best song – Given to the songwriter of the best song of the year

January 18, 2008

We already finished our first week of touring in the US and all is going well!
Echoes of Eternity and Trail of Tears are great guys to tour with and we can

assume that the coming month of non-stop touring with them shall be an

enjoyable one. The show we were supposed to do yesterday in Hartford has

unfortunately been canceled but you can be sure we'll be back eventually to

give you a dose of musical wickedness.

The legendary Quebec TV show LES FRANCS TIREURS decided to dedicate one of

their show to the Quebec Metal Scene and will pass a day with us, filming our

next show in Montreal at the Foufounes Electriques on next January 23 !!

For those in the Montreal area, come in great numbers and let's show them a

good slice of madness !

Since we'll be touring a lot in the upcoming weeks, the Online store will be closed

for an undetermined time until we set up a new system.

Following the Nile tour, we'll be playing at the New England Metal Fest X alongside

those bands : Meshuggah, Ministry, Nevermore, Ensiferum, Hemlock, Eluveitie,

Tyr & more

04.27.08 @ The Palladium ; Worcester, MA

...and the following dates have been changed for the Nile Tour in March/April

03.11.08 @ Backbooth ; Orlando, FL
03.25.08 @ Sokol Underground ; Omaha, NE

Finally, anyone interested in booking us for additional shows in Europe for our tour being
organized at the end of 2008 should contact this email : booking@ammd.net

January 4, 2008

2 dates changed in the US for the upcoming tour and another one in Canada has

been added. It all starts in 6 days...see you soon !!

01.31.08 @ Hawthorne Theatre ; Portland , OR
02.01.08 @ Fat City ; San Francisco , CA
02.16.08 @ Union Center ; Prince Albert, SK

December 12, 2007

Tours, tours, tours & more tours !
Another tour has been added to our 2008 To Do List.

We'll be going alongside NILE, SUICIDE SILENCE and THE FACELESS

on another US National tour in March & April. Check out the new dates !

...and note that the band has been lucky to escape totally unharmed from a

road accident while returning from a show in Chicoutimi last saturday.

Our trailer is a total wreck but that's all tha was destroyed.

The joys of winter shows...but that won't deter us from our goals. Yesssssssss.......

Finally, anyone interested in booking us for additional shows in Europe for

our tour being organized at the end of 2008 should contact this email :

booking@ammd.net

December 6, 2007

Move that bamboo. Thoughts are coming.
Ooooooohh ! Here's a good one !
We'll finally cross over the Atlantic pond, set foot upon the Ancient Continent

and eat all their food!
Yes! A tour in Europe is being organized for the end of 2008 alongside France's

Sebkha Chott. Anyone interested in booking us over there should contact

this email : booking@ammd.net

In A Flesh Aquarium has been released in Europe recently and it's already

accumulating great reviews that we'll put online soon enough if my pancreas

stops talking to me. I just hate it when my inner organs start to chat about

the similitudes of Wagner and Chuck Norris or other stray ideas in the same vein.

On another note, we've been invited to the FMPM in Montreal on September 14, 2008.

This progressive music Festival featuring local and international acts is

at its 3rd year of existence and is a must for any progressive/evolutive music fans.

...and a couple of shows have been added/updated to the upcoming tour with

Trail of Tears & Echoes of Eternity too :

12.07.07 @ Le Bunker ; Chicoutimi, QC
02.12.08 @ The Mission Theater; Mission, KS
02.15.08 @ The Exchange; Regina, SK

See you soon...

October 31, 2007

Happy Halloween my friends !! As I'm sure you know by now, our performance at the Fearless Music TV show did not air this past Saturday because of Game 3 of the World Series. It seems like sport won the day…but don’t worry !! The episode featuring "Desert Urbania" will now be airing this upcoming Saturday, November 3, at 12:30am on Fox 5 in NYC. Again…for those not in NYC, check out the time and channel listing on the Fearless Music website at www.fearlessmusic.tv/channels.html  to find out when and where else it airs.

Merry pumpkins !

October 24, 2007

OOOOhhhhh...unexpect on the telly !

A live performance of DESERT URBANIA will air on FOX’s Fearless Music TV show this weekend. The show will air Saturday, Oct 27 on FOX 5 at 12:30am in New York. For those not in NYC, check out the time and channel listing on the Fearless Music website at www.fearlessmusic.tv/channels.html  to find out when and where else it airs. We recorded this piece of live footage in their studio last September.

Here’s some info about the show from their website : “Fearless Music is currently airing on network affiliates across the US. The show is now available in 27 million households on TV and their website gets more than a million hits a day. Currently in its fifth season, Fearless Music features established, as well as up-and-coming bands, as they perform live in their recording studio…very similar to the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test show from the 1970’s, Austin City Limits, Sessions at West 54th St., etc. except without a studio audience.”

Some cool pictures from the Rock and Shock Festival in Worcester have been posted on the internet...here is the link :

October 11, 2007

There’s new blood in our Online Store ! Actually there’s no blood but a lot of new models are now available. It’s a manner of speaking…of course…and anyway selling blood over the internet is not really a healthy thing to do. Oh yes…and we re-stocked the entire inventory.  Sorry mutants…no three sleeved t-shirts in view…

…now speaking of live debaucheries, we’re starting a short tour in the USA and Canada this Saturday… beginning with a performance at the Rock and Shock horror Festival/Convention with bands including: Type O Negative, Mushroomhead, Lordi,Dark Funeral and Naglfar.

Will follow some shows with After Forever, Paradise Lost, Enslaved and Prong.

Note that the Toronto show with After Forever has been moved to the Funhaus.

Note too that we don’t effectuate any discrimination towards mutants and that we’re not responsible for this deficiency in the textile industry.

October 3, 2007

The online store has been re-stocked with all sizes !!

New models are coming up at the end of next week...

...and thanks to everyone who showed up at the BB King Blues Club in Time Square last sunday !

September 24, 2007

A short video of our last show in New York with the band Epica has been posted on the website “ www.metalmachine.net ”:

Here is the link: http://www.metalmachine.net/unexpectlive_videopage.html

More shows have been added to the list, which is always growing in length to our greatest pleasure…in the new additions are shows in Sherbrooke, Winnipeg, Minneapolis, another date with Paradise Lost in Bedford and the Trois-Rivieres Metalfest 2007.

While we wait for those cortex stretching musical moments, we keep on composing for the next album. The creative chemistry is really alive and healthy…and if Salvador Dali was still alive, I’d say to him: Hi Dali !

August 24, 2007

Times are good!

Our tentacles are in extension process…and it has nothing to do with Viking bowling or the elasticity of lunar trees…

We just got signed on a new label named Ascendance Records for Europe.

Under license, In a Flesh Aquarium will finally be available all across the European territory for the first time. The initial 2,000 copies of the album will be presented in a limited edition double CD slipcase, the bonus CD featuring the "We, Invaders" EP and a completely exclusive instrumental track. The release date has been scheduled for this fall.

Ascendance Records is a new label funded by Lee Barrett (founder of Candlelight Records; former member of EXTREME NOISE TERROR, currently in TO-MERA) and A&R'd by Sam Grant (writer, promoter, broadcaster, interviewer for Sonic Cathedral online).

…and don’t forget that we still need your support to win the title of BEST METAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR at the GAMIQ awards 2007.

Gerf mä ! We've had some problems with the site lately but now it's fixed !

We're now working with a new booking agency called First Row Talent...so from now on, people can contact our booking agent at this email : firstrowtalent@aol.com

Check out the Tour Dates section for a couple of new announced dates...

We'll play some shows with bands like Epica, After Forever, Katatonia and we'll be part of the musical roster for the Rock & Shock Festival/Horror convention in Worcester...and still more shows are to come...

Meanwhile, we're composing some songs in view of the next album. Telescope or not, we'll see...

June 9, 2007

Artagoth and I are now endorsed by VADER CABINETS !!!
We first had the chance to test this beauty on our last tour with Anonymus when Jef presented us to a member of the Vader family. An old veteran who used to be owned by a guy from Suffocation, it sounded sooo great even after all those years of war and punishment!
For those who like deep powerful bass without losing the precision and subtleties of the sound.
Blessed be the Siths...

June 4, 2007

Tilt your hats for no actual reasons ladies and gentlemen …here come some news…The couple of shows we were supposed to do with Virgin Black on June 17-18-19 and 20 have been canceled. We’re sorry about that…but we couldn’t do anything about the situation…but a last minute show has been organized in New York city on June 11 ( next Monday…with Australian labelmates Virgin Black, who are promoting their new album “Requiem - Mezzo Forte” ). The show will be held at the Lit Lounge and this time we assure you  we won’t be turned back at the borders…we now have in our possession the soooooo precious paperwork the government needs for letting us come and play.

We’re glad to be finally back in NYC after the two last misfortunes ( Jon Nödtveidt’s suicide and the cannibalistic episode with a un-cooperative and decidedly unlikable custom agent ). As for touring the US in a more complete fashion, be patient my friends…you’ll see us before the end of the year we promise !

Another upcoming show will be for the 2nd anniversary of the Saphir’s Club metal nights on July 14 in Montreal…Held on each Saturday, their events are now the most important weekly metal nights in our home city.
For more information on tickets follow the rabbit :

http://www.apocalypse-metal.com/rubrique.php?id_rubrique=17

Also, we’d humbly like to ask your precious help on a voting matter ! We’re candidate for the metal album of the year with “In a Flesh Aquarium” at the GAMIQ ( the only award ceremony for the underground/alternative bands in Quebec…), so if you have some minutes to spare, we’d like you to go on the following link and vote for your favorite weirdos !! You have until June 30 to vote !!

http://www.gamiq.ca/sondage/index.php?sid=1

…and last little fact for those with an insatiable curiosity, Leïlindel sang on the song “Killers in love” from the new Tub Ring album “The Great Filter” released very recently on The End Records…
Now let’s pimp my imp.

March 13, 2007

Hello friends, un-friends, mammals and human beings in general…This announcement is based on a structural assemblage of words, necessary tool when you dwell into the theme known as: communication .Today we welcome warmly a new member into the ranks!

Let’s give a round of applauses and trace some well deserved parallelograms in the air for our new official violin player, a brilliant music manipulator named Blaise. His talent will undoubtedly contribute to the developing mutation of our music.

Here are the links to his personal Myspace page & another of his musical projects:

The Canadian Tour continues to expand and dates are still getting confirmed ...please note that the dates which are NOT CONFIRMED are possibilities...so by definition, they can't be taken for 100% sure.

For those wondering about the dates in Quebec, we'll be doing them at the end of the tour...spinning...'round 'n squarishly funnysome.

...and finally, we have some problems with our Myspace page and can't answer our messages or leave comments...so for those wondering about our lack of answers, here is the reason. We're trying to get in touch with their admin. but it's quite an epic quest to do so.

unexpect is searching for a new violin player

After ten years of enjoyable companionship, we now officially announce that our violinist, le bateleur, will be leaving unexpect for good. We’ll always keep strong ties with him but it seems that extensive touring don’t fit well with his future life plans. We wish him the best and hope he’ll get the most out of life !

Thanks Charles…

…so from this moment, we’ll be on the look out for another violinist !! We’ll set up some auditions as soon as possible.

Candidates should :

  • absolutely be devoid of any criminal records
  • have some stage experience
  • be ready to tour extensively
  • be musically open minded ( obviously )
  • have a nice and well groomed moustache
  • forget about that last statement

For those interested, just contact our manager, FIX, at this phone number or email…he’ll fill you in on the procedures…:

DAMNnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn !

Another NY show cancelled !!! First, the one with Dissection, and now this !
It seems we're cursed....The show on october 16 at the Lit Lounge is officially cancelled and here is the reason...

Three of us were supposed to come in NY earlier this Saturday to enjoy the city and visit the The End Records office, but The US customs won't let us pass through !!   What the *&$?#&?*@...........we did not even have instruments with us or anything...nobody in the band has ever had problem with justice and our files are white as snow. Blank as the blankest blank rumma-thingie. We don't have anything to hide...but still...it seems that they enjoy annoying bands...ok....perhaps that the fact we were wearing blood corpse paint in clown disguises and petting a dead parrot while conversing with them influenced slightly their decision...but it's not a reason to refuse entry to such a bunch of jolly fellows ;)))

We're extremely sorry for everyone who were supposed to be there and we promise we'll  be back as soon as we can...you can't imagine how much we were looking forward that show....anyway....now we'll try to clarify some details with the American embassy to see what really happened on that fateful encounter and to nullify the blotches they created on our personal cases.
Well.....a musician's life can be rough sometimes...and a custom agent's life must be quite boring and un-exciting for them to hit on artists whose sole reason to live is to spread their music to the four winds. Shame on them puppet enforcers...if only robots had feelings..
New York....we'll be back !

Here are the other shows scheduled for the moment :

4/11/2006 @ Maquisart ; Trois-Rivières MetalFest, QC ; w/ Kataklysm, Quo Vadis, Atheretic and more !
23/11/2006 @ L'impérial ; Quebec city, QC ; w/ Symbolic, Tormentor Allegoria & Fragments of Sentience
28/11/2006 @ The Underground ; Hamilton, ON ; w/ Skeleton Key & Stolen Babies
29/11/2006 @ Sneaky Dees ; Toronto, ON ; w/ Skeleton Key & Stolen Babies

October 3, 2006

The tour is now completed and it was closed in beauty with the Montreal release show ! Thanks to everyone who came and showered us with unbelievable energy ! The Theatre Plaza was full packed and we had the greatest time of all timestly time ! And I want to mention the great human beings whose companionship illuminated this tour, everyone in Foxy Shazam and Tub Ring.

If you're one of the people who did not get to enter the show because of your age, you can have your ticket refunded by calling this number 514-758-3542. We're extremely sorry for that...stupid law...well...

Things will be shaking up for us in the next weeks as we're in the midst of planifying our next steps of action and there's a lot to come!

Meanwhile you can check out an interview we did with a webzine called Sea of Tranquility !

September 25, 2006

Hail to you all !

We’re currently in Chicago, taking a day off…the tour is now half -done and we’re getting back in Canada pretty soon…The Foxy Shazam and Tub Ring guys are definitely cool people and we have a great time with them…

The flesh aquarium keeps on having its share of excellent reviews as can be seen in the media section…check out older reviews too because some websites added

other ones. The release date for other countries shall be announced in a near future…

There’s been a slight mistake in the first pressing of the album, and I’ll explain to you all how to correct it manually. Ok…now for a little bricolage session…Just take out the middle page of the cd booklet ( where you see those superb and noble staples ) and reverse it…now the lyrics should be in the right order. Check out at the back of the cd if you’re not sure about the songs order and eat some unmarked pills.

It seems like major Medias in Quebec are finally beginning to acknowledge that there’s a metal underground scene just waiting to be discovered. One of Quebec’s major newspaper “ Le Journal de Montreal ” recently released a full page article with a color photography in its week-end edition ! Thanks to them for their open-mindedness.

A show in Quebec city has now officially been organized !
November 23, 2006 at the Imperial  w/ Symbolic, Tormentor Allegoria & Fragments of Sentience…..15$ + tx. & fees…..19h

The official forum is now clean of spammers…they were destroyed in a huge blast of blinding ectoplasm. I love sesame oil...and they're gone...come again !
Another song from IAFA has been added to our myspace page.
Desert Urbania is now part of the monstrous phenomenon.

There’s an unexpect interview in the current issue ( #32) of Unrestrained !
Check out the next issues of Metal Maniacs and BW & BK for more interviews and unexpect features !

Good news ! Artagoth is now sponsored by GODIN guitars and strings. A famous company based in Quebec. He eats so much strings for breakfast that’s it’s a deep relief for his pockets.

Ok…so that’s it for now…I’m getting kicked out of the internet cafe where I’m writing this stuff because I can’t stop licking the computer screens and sawed off the head of the owner’s pet chinchilla.

Ciao tchi

A listening session shall take place at the Café Chaos in Montreal, on August 29, 20h.The whole band will be present for the occasion to present their newborn in person.

Some new excellent reviews for IAFA were added in the media section ! Here are some quotes :

“ Unexpect manage to defy every single tangible law of metal and meld In a Flesh Aquarium into a twisted work of sheer, breathtaking genius… the most demented and unclassifiable yet brilliantly unique and challenging album since La Masquerade Infernale...”                                                                      -Digital Metal

“ In a Flesh Aquarium is perhaps the most original body of work I’ve heard to this point in a 2006 that bodes to finish with some of the most interesting creations of metal’s revival period ”                                                    -Amp Magazine

“…you could just call this the soundtrack to the most twisted circus in history. The Cirque du Soleil, under the administration of Satan… Definitely try this out though, love it or hate it you haven't heard anything like it before. I've been into metal for over fifteen years and I haven't heard this before. Now if you'll pardon me, I need to lie down..."                                                                 -Deadtide

“ Unexpect have given birth to the strangest album in 2006, if not the entire decade… after a few spins, it will tunnel itself deep in your mind… ”

                                                                                                                  -Metalocity Zine

“ This is really a unique listening experience… The bar for avant-garde & progressive metal just got raised folks ”                                     - Sea of Tranquility

“ I see the Devil smiles at me, for this is the Devil’s music. He smiles at my lack of comprehension... this is the most diverse metal album I’ve ever heard. It takes me everywhere. And beyond… the biggest musical challenge I have ever had thinking of metal of any categories…”                                                           -Imhotep
